Urban Water Training Course

07.20.2020

DURATION 1 hour

Water systems are feeling the impact of increased urbanization. The consequences of these changes result in decreased pervious surfaces, an increase in volume and a lower quality of water. When a community cannot coexist with a river or stream, it is time to take action. Our tendency in an urban watershed is to try and control it, but if the system is not in equilibrium, nature will respond.

Led by Erin Williford, PE and Aiza Jose, Ph.D., PE, LEED AP, this course will equip engineers with the skills they need to effectively work in urban watersheds across Texas. Together, the two water experts have more than 40 years of experience working in urban water systems. Throughout the course Erin and Aiza will discuss flooding, sediment, nutrient and floatables from an urban perspective in addition to discussing their experience working in urban watersheds in Houston, San Antonio and Fort Worth.
