PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Candela Heights Drive Segment 3 project includes approximately 975 linear feet of roadway and features a two-lane bridge spanning the existing Flewellen Creek. The bridge has total length of 150 feet, utilizing a 40'-70'-40' span configuration with Tx28 girders. The span arrangement was carefully selected to ensure adequate freeboard above the 100-year water surface elevation and to meet Fort Bend County drainage requirements.

SERVICE DETAILS

With an overall width of 36 feet, the bridge accommodates two lanes of vehicular traffic and a 5-foot-wide sidewalk for pedestrians. It was carefully designed to balance structural efficiency with hydraulic performance. The scour analysis for the drilled shaft foundation was thoroughly evaluated in coordination with the geotechnical, hydraulic, and bridge teams.

In addition to the scour analysis and freeboard requirements, there was a need for a waterline to span Flewellen Creek. It was determined that the most effective solution was to attach the waterline to the vehicular bridge. The pipe was securely connected to the bridge deck, ensuring structural stability and providing ease of access for routine maintenance. To confirm the deck's capacity to support the additional load, a comprehensive structural analysis was performed, verifying that the design adequately accommodates the waterline's weight.

This bridge not only enhances connectivity within the development but also ensures full compliance with local regulatory standards. The project is being developed for Johnson Development Services.
