PROJECT OVERVIEW
Quiddity was selected by the City of Roanoke to support a multi‑phase reconstruction program focused on improving mobility, safety, and accessibility throughout the historic downtown district. The program began with the reconstruction and widening of two residential streets, Lamar and Bowie, which transition into Roanoke’s main commercial corridor, Oak Street, an area where residents and visitors gather for dining, entertainment, and community events. Following the successful completion of this initial project, the City awarded Quiddity three additional downtown street reconstruction projects: Austin and Rusk Streets, Austin and Travis Streets, and Denton and Houston Streets, demonstrating the trust placed in our team to deliver complex work in a challenging urban environment.
SERVICE DETAILS
Across all four projects, each street plays a direct role in connecting surrounding neighborhoods to Oak Street, making these improvements essential to the City’s goals for enhanced traffic flow and pedestrian access during peak activity hours. The combined effort has included comprehensive field topographic surveys, right‑of‑way research and determination, easement preparation, and subsurface utility engineering (SUE). Our team has also provided extensive franchise utility coordination and full roadway engineering design.
The reconstruction program included roadway widening, new sidewalks, upgraded storm drain systems, including replacing roadside ditches with underground storm infrastructure, as well as improvements to sanitary sewer and waterline facilities. Quiddity’s services have extended through the preparation of contract documents, bid‑phase support, development of the Opinion of Probable Construction Cost (OPCC), and limited construction‑phase services.
