PROJECT OVERVIEW
Cottage Grove is a Houston neighborhood transitioning from small, single-family residences to dense townhome developments. This transition has increased the surface area from 50% to 90% and the overall density from six dwellings per acre to 26. The City of Houston selected our team to address polluted waters in the area and develop the city’s first Low Impact Development (LID) to address the issue.
SERVICE DETAILS
As part of the pilot project, we researched other successful LID projects across the nation to design a solution that was both visually appealing yet functional. We made use of native vegetation and tree boxes containing small shrubs to collect and treat stormwater runoff. Employing these features will help determine if such a design can improve water quality in the Buffalo Bayou while still adhering to city, street, and drainage regulations.
