PROJECT OVERVIEW
Our team provided surveying services for Carter Ranch, a 14,669-acre working cattle ranch located in both Leon and Freestone Counties along the Trinity River. Large portions of the ranch had not been surveyed since the late 1800s when the land was cut from the sovereign of Texas. We surveyed 29 separate tracts, including 2.2-miles of railroad right-of-way, 16.2-miles of river, and approximately 50 adjoining properties within the allotted 30-day timeline.
SERVICE DETAILS
We performed a modified land title survey and a boundary survey that encompassed the location of all visible improvements to the ranch, including fencing, pipeline, overhead electricity, cattle work and facilities, and housing.
In order to meet the constrained schedule, our team developed a new way to use proven technology, which sped up the surveying process without sacrificing accuracy. Aerial photogrammetry was utilized in combination with conventional survey methods to produce an accurate depiction of the 16.2-miles of waterline. We also deployed dedicated field crews from multiple office locations to work jointly with the drones to collect the necessary waterline GPS data for quality assurance. The area around the Trinity River is heavily wooded, utilizing drones to aid with the surveying resulted in time savings and enhanced safety for our team members.
The Carter Ranch project presented numerous challenges. However, with collaboration, dedicated workers, and the inventive use of available technologies, the project was completed on schedule.
