PROJECT OVERVIEW

Centrally located off Kuykendahl and Interstate 45, the Rockstar Energy Bike Park is a 22-acre BMX and mountain bike facility catered to all skill levels. The park, also known as the North Houston Bike Park, is the second phase in the N. Houston Development Corp’s beautification program that also includes the North Houston Skate Park and Dylan’s Park. The park will host the BMX World Championships.

SERVICE DETAILS

The park has over 10 tractions including red-clay race tracks, street courses, a performance pavilion, and wooded bike trails, making it one of the largest biking facilities in the United States. The design utilizes space below one of the entrance ramps, something that has never been done before. Rather than leave the space empty, the area includes a concession stand, office, and storage space.

This collaboration between our team and the N. Houston Redevelopment Corp. was designed to provide resources for the community. Children can participate in BMX 101 where they can learn to ride a bike and the fundamentals of BMX. Older children can also learn about bike building and track modeling.

We provided program and construction management services to the N. Houston Development Corp. We utilized a construction manager at-risk delivery method to ensure the project was delivered with a guaranteed maximum price (GMP) and oversaw the overall design and development of the facility. Our team has worked along with the North Houston Redevelopment Corporation for the past 15-years, with this project lasting three years.

The park celebrated its grand opening on August 16, 2019.
