PROJECT OVERVIEW
Advanced Power is in the process of constructing its inaugural solar energy facility, known as Cutlass Solar, spanning 1,800 acres within Fort Bend County, Texas. The project has been divided into two distinct phases. The initial phase, covering 700 acres, reached completion in July 2022 and commenced commercial operations, supplying electricity to ERCOT in January 2023. The second phase is currently under construction and is expected to be finalized by December 2023. The first phase has successfully augmented the Electric Reliability Council of Texas’ Houston Zone with an additional 140 MWDC, generating enough electricity to power approximately 20,000 homes. As part of its contribution to the renewable energy sector, the project intends to sell Renewable Energy Credits to participating companies.
SERVICE DETAILS
Our team provided a wide range of services, including topographic and ALTA surveys, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, construction drawings, permitting, and civil engineering support during the construction phase. To create a precise model for design and construction, we utilized a combination of on-the-ground, drone, and fixed-wing LiDAR techniques in our topographic surveys. Furthermore, the topographic survey was instrumental in the advanced modeling of the 1,400-acre area. This modeling assessed water flow patterns, drainage systems, and land inundation, ensuring that equipment placement reduced flood risk.
