PROJECT OVERVIEW
Lone Star Parkway is a roadway in Montgomery, Texas that provides convenient access to the northern area of Lake Conroe, by-passing the central intersection of TX-105 and FM 149. With a daily average of more than 7,000 vehicles, a 45 MPH speed limit and limited travel space, Montgomery County was concerned about driver comfort and safety.
SERVICE DETAILS
Our team worked alongside the county to reconstruct two-miles of Lone Star Parkway. Topographic survey data of 100-foot cross–sections were used to help develop the reconstruction designs and roadside elements. After analyzing several design options, our team proposed increasing the width of the roadway to 26-feet to include two widened 12-foot lanes and 1-foot shoulders. An innovative, cost-saving construction method was used to pulverize the existing pavement and base, which had to be removed before reconstruction. The materials were then used in the base layer of the new pavement structure.
