PROJECT OVERVIEW
One Eye Creek runs through the center of the Rusk community. FEMA floodplain insurance maps categorized the creek as a Zone A floodplain based on information from 1988. The City of Rusk wanted to update roughly 15,000-linear feet of the creek’s floodplain map with new data from LiDAR, survey, and hydrology and hydraulic models.
SERVICE DETAILS
Consistent communication with the City of Rusk was key to ensuring accurate data was incorporated into One Eye Creek’s Letter of Map Revisions (LOMR). Our team built HEC-HMS hydrology models as well as an HEC-RAS model that utilized 2D Rain-on-Grid connected directly to a 1D Unsteady Reach analysis to accurately model the drainage conditions of the One Eye Creek watershed. H&H model data was also used to determine 100-year floodplain elevations and prepare for future development near the creek.
