PROJECT OVERVIEW
US 67 needed updates to help relieve congestion, facilitate traffic flow, and enhance mobility in the Midlothian area. We worked alongside the Midlothian Development Authority to design this major roadway, which required reconstruction on the overpass at Railport Parkway due to the increased truck traffic from the nearby Railport Business Park.
SERVICE DETAILS
Our team designed the reconstruction updating the overpass at Railport Parkway from a signalized intersection to a grade-separation overpass. The design included three new bridges, two bridge widenings, drainage ditches, culverts, signing, pavement markings, and extensive pavement removal. Additionally, entrance ramps, exit ramps, and frontage roads to service Railport Parkway and Weatherford Road were established.
We found solutions to implement long-term traffic mitigation as well as funding for the project. The team devised a dedicated traffic control plan to address traffic issues during all phases of the project. Our team planned for phased construction, temporary traffic signals, an in-depth detour plan for minor roadways, and cross-over detours for the main lanes.
We also worked with the client to develop funding alternatives, which ultimately resulted in TxDOT pass-through toll financing. The Railport Parkway is one of only three projects to have been completed under this financial structure in North Texas.
