Drones – SUAS

01.09.2018

DURATION 3 minute read

This technology goes by several different names. Drones, SUAS, and UAVs are all essentially the same thing. They are simply a vehicle that houses equipment which, in this case, is either a camera or a LiDAR scanner.

Drones allow us to use photogrammetry which uses photos from a high-resolution camera to calculate elevations which are then used to generate a point cloud. LiDAR, on the other hand, uses lasers to measure the distance from the drone to the ground, or any other object, then a point cloud is generated from those measurements. Not all point clouds are generated with the same level of accuracy, and our teams use these techniques because both of them produce highly accurate results.

Visit our Surveying services page or get in touch with one of our professional surveyors for more information on our scanning techniques and the technology that we use.
