PROJECT OVERVIEW
The North Houston Skate Park is the largest skate park in North America and the second-largest in the world. The 78,000 square foot competition-scale skate park is located in North Houston near Spring. It features a Texas-shaped bowl with a 20-foot full pipe, a 12-foot vertical ramp, a 10-foot-deep bowl, and a “snake run” pathway.
Located adjacent to the skate park is Dylan park, which was designed specifically to meet the needs of children who are sight and hearing impaired, autistic, or wheelchair-bound. The park also includes walking trails, a community center, public art, and walkways. The park was created in memory of Dylan Newman, a child abuse victim who passed away in 2009.
SERVICE DETAILS
Our team served as the representative for the North Houston Development Corp. We coordinated with several consultants and contractors to ensure the design and operational goals were integrated into the project. The needs and desires of the community were also taken into consideration for the parks’ welcome center, public art components, and landscaping. Working closely with the skateboarding committee, which served as an advisor for the skate park, was integral to the success of this project.
